Perhaps you are wondering why I employ the domain name bringvarvarahome.org for my personal website? Or maybe you thought that someone else was employing this domain, and are wondering how I came to own it? Either way, do kindly read on!

This website tells part of the story of my success at retaining custody of my oldest child after the breakup of my first marriage. It's not the whole story – the rest of it will come out later and in a different form – but it is enough of the story that you will be able to understand the many difficulties that I encountered and overcame.

I learned many lessons along the way.

Let me assure you, dear reader, that a high-conflict divorce can be a real eye-opening experience. Among the things I learned: the notions that force does not equate with right, right does not equate with justice, and justice does not equate with compassion.

Motivated by my experience, I decided to dedicate my spare time to helping others who justifiably seek to protect their children from the effects of a broken home, an abusive or mentally ill relative, an overreaching public authority, or some malicious special interest.

Over the last five years in particular I have helped dozens of parents keep their children. In particular I have assisted numerous European and Asian parents of American dual nationals keep their children from traveling from their countries of residence to the United States, particularly in circumstances where it appeared that, following their children's relocation, these parents would have little or no opportunity to watch their children grow.

As an American citizen myself, I am ashamed to admit that the United States does not have a stellar record in respecting human rights. It has an especially poor record in respecting the fundamental right of a child to access to both his or her parents.

Each of the other tabs above will bring you information and documents addressing comments that you might find written about me elsewhere on the Web and, in certain cases, exposing the people who have posted them. I might mention that these people find it convenient to forget that I too was once what is (often misleadingly) termed a "left-behind" parent. I too was once forcefully separated from my child by the unilateral decision of my then-spouse. In my case, our child was taken without my knowledge or consent from France to the United States in September 2002.

Thus began my crash course in law.

A decade later, having retrieved and kept my child by my side, having enjoyed watching her grow into a young lady, I assure you, dear reader: I learned my lessons well.

Indeed, I had some of the best training that money cannot buy!
